Buhari Saving Nigeria from Goodluck and Peter Obi Saving Nigeria from Buhari

It feels like yesterday when in 2014 and 2015 I was busy rooting for Buhari as the messiah to save Nigeria from the damages the Goodluck Jonathan Administration was causing the country, and how on the presidential election date in 2015, it was me on a very long queue under a very scotching sun trying to vote for Buhari so that Nigeria can be the best country in the world via the works of our messiah Buhari and his vice Osinbajo. Eight years later, here I am again with the only viable option to root for another messiah in Peter Obi to save Nigeria from the damages the Buhari Administration is causing the country; it’s everything feeling like déjà vu—especially now that the urge for Peter Obi escalates seriously as that of Buhari escalated in 2014 and 2015.

I am aware of the better past in government that Peter Obi has in Anambra as governor than the past Buhari had in government as a military head of state of Nigeria. I am also aware of how academically, physically and socially smarter Peter Obi is than Buhari, but the fact that everything about Peter Obi contesting for the office of the president now is looking exactly how Buhari contesting for the office of the president looked in 2014 and 2015, it makes all these scary and having me think these people know what gets Nigerians and they can use it over and over again because they are sure it would never fail, because Nigerians would never get the fact that these people know what gets them and they use it against them always.

Peter Obi using a minority party as Buhari used a minority party, Peter Obi using the “technocrat” agenda (which Nigerians have been made to believe that’s what we need now and such quality is in Peter Obi) just as Buhari and his gang used the “I’m poor like you too” in 2015 (to create the impression that they are equal to the average Nigerians), these and more are things about the Peter Obi agenda that give me worries. I don’t want to be the person who says this, but I’m beginning to think Nigeria wouldn’t be any better than it is now if Peter Obi makes it to being the president. As it is now, I don’t even know who to endorse anymore. Thank goodness we have the rest of the year to observe and pray we get it right this one time, so that Nigeria can at last have any level of sanity at all in the government.
